Treating Acne at Home

When you are dealing with acne, you’ll find that the urge to look for acne treatments that you can do at home can be quite tremendous! Dermatologists are expensive, and some of their procedures are quite painful. If you are interested in taking care of your acne at home, there are a few things that you can do that will help.

Stop Using Soap

When it comes to acne remedies, this might be the strangest one to hear. The important thing to remember is that soap dehydrates your skin, and acne scarring gets significantly worse when the skin is dry. Instead, use water to wash your face in the morning. This is something that can make a huge difference, especially if you have been dehydrating your face with harsh scrubbing. Expect your face to be somewhat oily for the first week as your skin recalibrates itself, but the results afterward can be striking. Skip the soap for your face and simply leave it for your body.

When you are dealing with acne, make sure that you moisturize your skin on a regular basis. Take a moment to think about what your routine is. When you get out of the shower, simply take the time to moisturize. When you get out of the water, your skin is moist, but the water will evaporate quite quickly, leaving you drier than you were before. The moisturizer allows you to trap water next to your skin, which can also heal it. Remember that you should only use a water-based lubricant, as oil will only worsen the condition.

Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a fantastic solution for acne because of its antibacterial qualities. One reason that acne outbreaks can get so bad is because the sores become infected. As you go through the day, it can be difficult to prevent dust and debris from getting into the affected spots. Dab the tip of a clean Q-tip into the tea tree oil and gently apply it to the affected areas. Be sparing, as tea tree oil can dry out your skin This will help keep your breakouts clean as they heal.

When you are invested in learning how to quell acne outbreaks, take a moment to consider what you can do at home. The condition can be quite detrimental to your life, but the truth of the matter is that there is plenty you can do on your own.
